Which Medicare Supplement Plans Does National General Sell?

National General sells the following Medicare Supplement plans in certain parts of the country:

Medigap Plan A

National General Medigap Plan A provides the most basic level of benefits that includes coverage of:

Medigap Plan G

Medigap Plan G is among the plans offering the highest levels of coverage. National General Plan G includes all of the benefits found in Plan A above in addition to coverage of:

The only Medicare Supplement benefit not covered by Plan G is coverage of the Part B annual deductible.

Medicare Plan F

Medicare Supplement Plan F is the only plan to offer coverage in all Medigap benefit areas. National General Plan F includes all of the same benefits you’ll find in Plan G in addition to coverage of the Medicare Part B deductible.

National General also sells a high-deductible version of Medigap Plan F. With this plan, beneficiaries pay a lower monthly premium in exchange for having to meet an annual deductible before the plan’s benefits kick in. For the 2024 plan year, the deductible is $2,800.

It’s important to note however that federal law prohibits anyone who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020, from enrolling in Medigap Plan F.

Medigap Plan N

National General Plan N uses some cost-sharing to keep premiums in check. The plan includes everything found in Plan G but with two exceptions:

Where Are National General Medicare Supplement Plans Sold?

National General Medicare Supplement Insurance plans are underwritten by four companies – Time Insurance Company, National Health Insurance Company, Integon National Insurance Company and Integon Indemnity Corporation.

Health insurance underwritten by one of these four companies is available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, though Medigap plan selection may vary by location.

Where Can National General Medicare Supplement Plans Be Used?

A National General Medicare Supplement Insurance plan will be accepted anywhere Medicare is accepted. That means you can use your National General Medigap plan anywhere in the U.S. and U.S. territories wherever you use your Medicare Part A or Part B benefits.

The only way to get a quote for a National General Medicare Supplement plan is to contact the company directly or connect with an agent who is licensed to sell National General products where you live.

Are There Any Additional Perks Offered to National General Customers?

National General Medigap customers are granted a 30-day “free look” period where you can return your policy for a full refund within 30 days if you are not satisfied with the plan.

National General also does not impose a waiting period so your coverage takes effect at the time your policy is put in force.

National General is a publicly traded company with around $4.6 billion in annual revenue. 1 The company has been in business for over 100 years and maintains an A+ (Superior) rating with leading credit agency A.M. Best as well as an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

National General is an established and financially sound company offering a mix of low-, medium- and high-level Medigap plans with some extra discounts and perks for customers. However, you may find more competitive pricing by shopping around with other insurers and there are several additional Medigap plans not sold by National General that may suit your needs better.
